Getting Settled

Well, we're here...all moved in, and boy what a mess it started out to be! It was such a daunting process, I'm so glad for it to be over! The movers we hired left a little to be desired... we told them up front that we had to make another stop at our storage to empty that out....and what happened? They forgot and didn't pack the truck so as to leave room for the stuff in storage! Grrr! They made a few adjustments and off we went to the storage unit. Turns out, there still wasn't enough room, so we ended up having to use Joe's truck and my car for the overflow! They made a few scuffs here and there on the new walls...nothing a little paint can't fix...but it was still annoying after the earlier debocle. Once they were gone...it took us a couple of days to notice we were missing the seat cushion to the chair I got from my grandparent's house....so it's an OLD chair, and very sentimental! It took them about THREE weeks to finally get us the cushion once I called and inquired about it. I'm still kicking myself for tipping them! Anyway, nothing was broken, so I guess that was the upside... and the packing and moving was way worse than the unpacking. I decided that we were going to have a July 4th party...so that was my motivation to the get the house presentable. And it was good motivation because it worked! We are now about 90% done unpacking! We still have some organizing and tweaking to do with the decorating, but that will come in time. For now, after a rough couple of months of packing and moving, we have slowed down and are enjoying our new home! Here are a couple of pics of the moving in and unpacking process....
